It’s raining in Cebu!

It’s raining in Cebu! Oh, how I love the rain. It reminds me of childhood. Play was all that matters. Rain also is a sign of blessing, a simple reminder to us that there is One Divine Being that reigns above us. From the sky to the ground, water as a necessity of life pours down in droplets from the sky. It is like the heavens sending life on Earth.

Not many people think that even the formation of water on the sky is a great mystery, although science can explain it, the water vapor gas rising on our atmosphere together with the needed low pressure, then precipitates and forming rain. But who then has the ability to command those molecules to behave that way? Who then can command the balancing of the clouds that causes a place to rain and the other place to not?

Imagine life without rain and without water. Every time it rains it reminds me that I am blessed, I am lucky enough to receive such gift. Although, the rain is oftentimes the reason why I go to work late. J

The Reason I am CBS

The reason I wanted to be part of CBS because I need to belong somewhere. To be a part of a community. I chose CBS or Cebu Bloggers Society because I believe that CBS is here for a "good" reason, of course. And oh, Cebu, I really love this place. This place is my home, and CBS for me is a good place to start knowing and understanding it more. I also would want to reach out and help, maybe fight for a cause, raise people's voices, etc., and that is thru the use of my keyboard, my internet connection, my blog, and the WWW.

And as I look 10 years from now, I would be proud that I am a part of you guys here. And lastly, who knows I might find my lady valentine here.. :-) hihi

My Longest Introduction - Cebu Bloggers Society

Hi there people! Hello world! This is me FRANCIS DANIEL MANING aka blurem23 Facebook et al blurem23@yahoo.com

I dont know where to start actually, there so much I can tell about myself. Mostly I am just like the typical guy around you. But sometimes I am spontaneous, a bit different, want to be different. A listener sometimes, when the situation calls for it, and sometimes a talker. I could not fully describe myself coz even I myself cant think of what I really am. Of course, I AM STRAIGHT huh, I am always fascinated by the form of the female human body. Girls are my weakness.

I am somewhat a master of all straits, or just trying to be, and yet I am a master of none. I can sometimes give advice but always require a second opinion. I can oftentimes solve hard problems you want me to solve, but I am always having problems solving my own. I always take the hardest way out, and I always compromise things. My head is full of ideas, but I find it hard realizing them.

One good thing I am proud of is that I am not a blamer. I believe that whatever happens to my life is never another man's doing but my own. I look back to the things that happened in my life, both good and bad, and I just smile instead of being sad, and i tell myself, what a wonderful life i had. I always make sure that I make a Life not just a living. Have a career not just a job.

I live each day as if it were the last. I never cared for tomorrow, I know its not really good, but I just dont know why. I believe things happen for a reason, and I always believe that life will find its own way.

I just dont know why most people believe that I am tough, full of confidence, a true man, a real man, as if there is nothing i cant do. Some even believed I have girlfriends left and right! hahaha.. But the truth is, I am no good in relationships, no one has truly owned me. And I envy those people who are successful in their relationships. I can always hear them say to me, "biliba jud nako nimo bai." Honestly, my greatest failure? Was that I was never man enough to keep my family intact.

Now I am a single parent, if I were to chose between Half Cup Full or Half Cup Empty, then it is Half Cup Empty. I once thought it was Half Cup Full but later on i realized it was Half empty. My life is half empty.

I am not charismatic nor I am religious but I have faith. And many times I asked from HIM and it was given. And just to be honest, it such a shame, that I am never worthy of HIM.

Hayst. I am already 27 years old as of this post. Huh But I cant really find where to put myself, maybe its about time, to let life make its way and decide for myself.

whew!! taas taas jud da!!! anyways, thanks for reading (if you did read).. :-)

by the way, Thanks to all CBS admin for giving me a chance to be a part of this community. Its really an honor to be with you guys..

Cory Aquino Died - Cause Colon Cancer

cory aquino dead
Cory Aquino, 76 years of age, died Saturday morning at 3:18 am. The cause of death was advanced colon cancer. Diagnosed last year and now her long fight against her colon cancer finally ended. Cory Aquino then went on a cardiac arrest which ended her life. The mother of Philippine democracy, the icon of Philippine freedom, the women who ousted a powerful dictator of her time, finally rested in peace. It was for the first time in the world that the civilian people were called to defend the military against an oppressor.
corazon aquino is dead

Our prayers are always with you as you journey into a higher life, in heaven. Just yesterday I thought of sending you a letter, just as many thousand people who have did, especially the youth. But this morning I was too late.

I always remember her, as I was watching the news, with her yellow dress on, a trademark that she alway
s carries.
I was still young then,
but I can still recall how she led a nation. She went to office as the first Filipina to have a seat in MalacaƱang Palace. Driven by the force of the people, a hope of an entire nation, who before her was a nation of unrest. Before her seat as President, turmoil was evident and even during her time, during the Quo, she stood firm, and with the strength of God and the people on her side, she succeeded.
cory aquino died

Not only in the Philippines, but also to the entire world, she showed the capacity of a woman. She embraced all fear and all doubts after the death of her good husband Ninoy Aquino. She is a Philippine beloved and a lover of our nation, a true Filipina Heroine.

“She was headstrong and single-minded in one goal, and that was to remove all vestiges of an entrenched dictatorship," Raul C. Pangalangan, former dean of the Law School at the University of the Philippines, said in 2009. "We all owe her in a big way."

Because of her, we the Filipino people learned the true meaning of freedom. Since then, many changed. We became more aware and more conscious about the true duty of a Government official or agency, the importance of press freedom, the people’s rights, and many more important aspects that we all share the same today.

And it was only in her Presidency that I have seen what should all presidents be, free from corruption. Maria Corazon Cojuangco Aquino was a woman of good faith in God, God fearing, and a lover of all people.

Our prayers will always be with you as you embark on your new journey in life, a life of light, peace, and joy. It is a life much more different from the life that was offered to you while you were in Earth. Rest in peace President Corazon Aquino.

Michael Jackson Died - Passed Away

Dead Michael JacksonMichael Jackson at the age of 50 died yesterday, the cause of death was cardiac arrest. I was in shock when I found it out on Facebook thru a friend about this tragic loss of a great artist.

Michael Jackson contributed greatly in the music industry and entertainment. His influence spread throughout the world, transforming many areas of music, particularly influencing, Dance, Hip Hop and R&B. Being dubbed as the “King of Pop”, Michael Jackson showed the world his concert styles entertaining huge number of crowds. Doing the “Robot Dance” and “Moon Walk”. His audiences and fans come in many ages, from teen to adults; even my mother liked his songs. My personal favorite was “I’ll be there” a 70’s hit when Michael Jackson was still with the band called Jackson 5 together with his brother. And now was revised by Mariah Carey and American R&B singer Trey Lorenz.

During his career Michael Jackson faced many controversial issues that includes a child abuse accusation by a 13-year-old child named Jordan Chandler and his father Evan Chandler. Also rumors of health problems such as Vitiligo and Lupus. Michael Jackson in an interview with Oprah, admitted he has Vitiligo, a very rare skin disease that affects only 1% to 2% of the population. Vitiligo is a skin disease that causes the skin or other parts of the body to loose its pigment therefore loosing its color and making the eyes sensitive to light. The treatments he uses for his condition further lighten his skin tone, and, with the application of makeup to even out blotches, he could appear very pale.

Seven Reasons Why a Scientist Believes in God

While others believe, some still doubt. But when questions made unanswered, there is only one absolute answer you can turn to, and that is GOD. I share to you a very wonderful written master piece by a Scientist, revealing to us the existence of our Heavenly Creator.

I say "Faith is strongly believing in something unreal and without proof, that because of the strength of your belief, you have made real the things that you believe in.. Like God, Hope, and Love."

Seven Reasons Why a Scientist Believes in God
By: A. CRESSY MORRISON,
Former President of the New York Academy of Sciences

WE ARE STILL IN THE DAWN of the scientific age, and every increase of light reveals more brightly the handiwork of an intelligent Creator. We have made stupendous discoveries; with a spirit of scientific humility and of faith grounded in knowledge we are approaching ever nearer to an awareness of God.

For myself, I count seven reasons for my faith:

First: By unwavering mathematical law we can prove that our universe was designed and executed by a great engineering intelligence.

Suppose you put ten pennies, marked from one to ten, into your pocket and give them a good shuffle. Now try to take them out in sequence from one to ten, putting back the coin each time and shaking them all again. Mathematically we know that your chance of first drawing number one is one in ten; of drawing one and two in succession, one in 100; of drawing one, two and three in succession, one in 1000, and so on; your chance of drawing them all, from number one to number ten in succession, would reach the unbelievable figure of one in ten billion.

By the same reasoning, so many exacting conditions are necessary for life on the earth that they could not possibly exist in proper relationship by chance. The earth rotates on its axis 1000 miles an hour at the equator; if it turned at 100 miles an hour, our days and nights would be ten times as long as now, and the hot sun would likely burn up our vegetation each long day while in the long night any surviving sprout might well freeze.

Again the sun, source of our life, has a surface temperature of 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit, and our earth is just far enough away so that this "eternal life" warms us just enough and not too much ! If the sun gave off only one half its present radiation, we would freeze, and if it gave as much more, we would roast.

The slant of the earth, tilted at an angle of 23 degrees, gives us our seasons; if the earth had not been so tilted, vapors from the ocean would move north and south, piling up for us continents of ice. If our moon were, say, only 50,000 miles away instead of its actual distance, our tides might be so enormous that twice a day all continents would be submerged; even the mountains could soon be eroded away. If the crust of the earth had only been ten feet thicker, there would be no oxygen, without which animal life must die. Had the ocean been a few feet deeper, carbon dioxide and oxygen would have been absorbed and no vegetable life could exist.

It is apparent from these and a host of other examples that there is not one chance in billions that life on our planet is an accident.

Second: The resourcefulness of life to accomplish its purpose is a manifestation of an all-pervading Intelligence.

What life itself is, no man has fathomed. It has neither weight nor dimensions, but it does have force; a growing root will crack a rock. Life has conquered water, land and air, mastering the elements, compelling them to dissolve and reform their combinations.

Life, the sculptor, shapes all living things; an artist, it designs every leaf of every tree, and colors every flower. Life is a musician and has taught each bird to sing its love song, the insects to call one another in the music of their multitudinous sounds. Life is a sublime chemist, giving taste to fruits and spices, and perfume to the rose, changing water and carbonic acid into sugar and wood, and, in so doing, releasing oxygen that animals may have the breath of life.

Behold an almost invisible drop of protoplasm, transparent, jellylike, capable of motion, drawing energy from the sun. This single cell, this transparent mist-like droplet, holds within itself the germ of life, and has power to distribute this life to every living thing, great and small. The powers of this droplet are greater than our vegetation and animals and people, for all life came from it. Nature did not create life; fire-blistered rocks and a saltless sea could not meet the necessary requirements.

Who, then, has put it here?

Third: Animal wisdom speaks irresistibly of a good Creator who infused instinct into otherwise helpless little creatures.

The young salmon spends years at sea, then comes back to his own river, and travels up the very side of the river into which flows the tributary where he was born. What brings him back so precisely? If you transfer him to another tributary he will know at once that he is off his course and he will fight his way down and back to the main stream and then turn up against the current to finish his destiny accurately.

Even more difficult to solve is the mystery of eels. These amazing creatures migrate at maturity from ponds and rivers everywhere - those from Europe across thousands of miles of ocean - all bound for the same abysmal deeps near Bermuda. There they breed and die. The little ones, with no apparent means of knowing anything except that they are in a wilderness of water, nevertheless start back and find their way not only to the very shore from which their parents came but thence to the selfsame rivers, lakes or little ponds. No American eel has ever been caught in Europe, no European eel in American waters. Nature has even delayed the maturity of the European eel by a year or more to make up for its longer journey. Where does the directional impulse originate?

Fourth: Man has something more than animal instinct - the power of reason.

No other animal has ever left a record of its ability to count ten, or even to understand the meaning of ten. Where instinct is like a single note of a flute, beautiful but limited, the human brain contains all the notes of all the instruments in the orchestra. No need to belabor this fourth point; thanks to human reason we can contemplate the possibility that we are what we are only because we have received a spark of Universal Intelligence.

Fifth: Provision for all living is revealed in such phenomena as the wonders of genes.

So tiny are these genes that, if all of them responsible for all living people in the world could be put in one place, there would be less than a thimbleful. Yet these genes inhabit every living cell and are the keys to all human, animal and vegetable characteristics. A thimble is a small place to hold all the individual characteristics of almost three billion human beings. However, the facts are beyond question.

Here evolution really begins - at the cell, the entity which holds and carries the genes. That the ultra-microscopic gene can absolutely rule all life on earth is an example of profound cunning and provision that could emanate only from a Creative Intelligence; no other hypothesis will serve.

Sixth: By the economy of nature, we are forced to realize that only infinite wisdom could have foreseen and prepared with such astute husbandry.

Many years ago a species of cactus was planted in Australia as a protective fence. Having no insect enemies in Australia, the cactus soon began a prodigious growth; the alarming abundance persisted until the plants covered an area as long and wide as England, crowding inhabitants out of the towns and villages, and destroying their farms. Seeking a defense, entomologists scoured the world; finally they turned up an insect which lived exclusively on cactus, and would eat nothing else. It would breed freely, too; and it had no enemies in Australia. So animal soon conquered vegetable, and today the cactus pest has retreated - and with it all but a small protective residue of the insects, enough to hold the cactus in check forever.

Such checks and balances have been universally provided. Why have not fast-breeding insects dominated the earth? Because they have no lungs such as man possesses; they breathe through tubes. But when insects grow large, their tubes do not grow in ratio to the increasing size of the body. Hence there never has been an insect of great size; this limitation on growth has held them all in check. If this physical check had not been provided, man could not exist. Imagine meeting a hornet as big as a lion !

Seventh: The fact that man can conceive the idea of God is in itself a unique proof.

The conception of God rises from a divine faculty of man, unshared with the rest of our world - the faculty we call imagination. By its power, man and man alone can find the evidence of things unseen. The vista that power opens up is unbounded; indeed, as man's perfected imagination becomes a spiritual reality, he may discern in all the evidence of design and purpose the great truth that heaven is wherever and whatever; that God is everywhere and in everything that nowhere so close as in our hearts.

It is scientifically as well as imaginatively true, as the Psalmist said: The heavens declare the Glory of God and the firmament showeth His handiwork.

Philippine Independence Day – Freedom from Spain 2009

111 years of freedom. 111 years of change, in leadership, change as a nation, and the lifestyle of all people.

We enjoy the freedom to this very moment. Its because of the triumph of the leaders who once fought a mighty empire. National Heroes as we may call them. But what kind of people are they? Those people are farmers, who carry with them bolos and knives. The true Filipino who owns this day are the Katipuneros, who are farmers, peasants, and fishermen who sacrificed their lives for their family to enjoy freedom, for us also to enjoy today.

And can we still see these kind of leaders now-a-days? Those people on the Senate? Congress? What about those people who are aspiring to be President and a leader of our nation? Can we see the blood and spirit of a Katipunero flowing in them? Will they die for our nation?

I know it is a fantasy to dream of such a leader. All we have now are people who manipulate the law. For their own good, for their own interests, and for them to satisfy their greed. Now its up to us to choose the lesser evil. They got all the same intentions, they understand the needs and desires of the poor, and use them to promote themselves and give promises. But in the end, the same things happen all over again. Once seated, its payback time for those who made them win and who gave them the most votes and influence. And its a sad thing, that it will go on until the end of the President's term. Leaving behind the promises that are meant to be broken.

Now I ask all of you who wants to be President. Will you die for our country?

Dr. Hayden Kho Katrina Halili Scandal Victims

hayden kho katrina halili scandalI don’t know if any of you will agree on my point of view about this sensitive topic. Any comments are accepted however.

With all respect to women, I believe that Dr. Hayden Kho is also a victim. Although Mr. Kho violated Law on Violence Against Women and perhaps Ethical Code for Physicians, it doesn’t mean that Dr. Hayden Kho should be punished for expressing himself thru the videos that he made. It is just similar to keeping a naked picture of your girlfriend on your wallet. He may have taken the video secretly, but it was clear that there was no intention on his part to release it to the public. He only wants to keep it to himself. Considering that there are already videos, a number of it already, that he took before there was Katrina Halili.

He should however face the consequences, like what Katrina Halili wants, for the PRC to revoke the license of Dr. Kho, but I don’t think he needs to go to prison for this. He needs to pay too. The main focus should be on the individuals who, without permission from him, extracted the files from his laptop and published the videos on the Internet. Therefore damaging the lives to those people involved. Making Katrina Halili to have the most of the damage. I believe that people should not be so judgmental with Hayden or with Katrina. They are the victims. I am saying this because, I always hear different points of view from different people, and all are not good and are focused mainly on the people on the video, which I believe is wrong. What we should be after are those people who are the root of this , those people who opened Kho’s password protected laptop and keeping a copies of the video and publishing it on the net.

Poem - God's Grace

God’s Grace

You are an object of a man’s dream,

Like a girl besides a stream.

I look at you and I see a face of greatness,

Filled with bounties and graces.

Untouched and free as a wind,

With dreams of limitless end.

No answers nor even clues,

To the puzzled eyes that views.

Oh! Please tell me what hides in that smile?

Maybe they’re treasures in file!

Lucky for me to see and touch God’s grace,

And to feel her sweet embrace.

I love her for what she is,

Locked forever in mine heart my miss.

Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley

Manny Pacquiao Against Shane Mosley

After the lopsided bout against Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton, what comes next? Are we seeing a Pacman vs Sugar coming on the schedule lists? Who knows?

Manny Pacquiao is undefeatable, wining on Juan Marquez, David Diaz, Oscar de la Hoya, and now the Briton Hitman Ricky Hatton. Most people say the only player left to beat will be Floyd Mayweather Jr., I doubt that. Mayweather announced that he would fight against Juan Miguel Marquez, coming out after resigning as a boxer. But what if he would lose against Marquez? Although Mayweather Jr. has an undefeated record of 39 – 0, I believe he would be having trouble dealing with Marquez.

And even if he wins, I am certain Manny Pacquiao wont give in to the match easily without a good offer. Manny Pacquiao is the reigning king in all the division he is in now. Mayweather Jr. will be the underdog.

What I want to see is a fight against Shane Mosley. Statistically and analytically, with high respects with Manny, Mosley got the better hand in terms of defense and speed. But you will never know what game plan Roach’s team might have against the Welterweight Champ.

It is surely an interesting match compared to Manny taking on Mayweather Jr.

Pacquiao Wins

Throwing a total 127 punches with 73 connected, Manny Pacquiao finished Ricky Hatton on the Second round. While Hatton Threw 78 punches and only 18 landed. Pacquiao is the greatest fighter alive now, said Bob Arum.
“I’m surprised the fight was so easy,” Pacquiao said. “He was wide open for the right hook. I knew he would be looking for my left.”
“It was a hard loss but I’m OK,” Hatton said. “I really didn’t see the punch coming but it was a great shot. I know I’ll be OK.”
Who will be Pacquiao's next match? Will it be Mayweather or Marquez?

Manny Pacquiao is richer once again

Boxing promoter Bob Arum said when asked about whether or not this fight will exceed that of De La Hoya vs Pacquiao fight,
"Oh, yeah, we're going to well exceed that," said an effusive Bob Arum, who promotes Pacquiao, last Tuesday. "I'm telling you, De La Hoya-Pacquiao never sold out and never came close to selling out. This fight, you cannot buy a ticket, everything is sold."
Manny Pacquiao is richer by the millions once again, Manny earned no less than $12 Million. for the fight But im sure the Philippine boxing icon will get more. Manny Pacquiao is now the richest boxer in asia.
While Hatton was paid $8 Million.

The East vs West ended in a 2 round knockout win by Manny Pacquiao.

Manny Pacquiao wins over Ricky Hatton by knockout

Manny HattonThe Philippines pride, Manny Pacquiao, once again proven his might against England's Ricky Hatton. Manny Pacquiao threw a strong left hand punch, following a right hand fake, on the jaw on Ricky Hatton that threw Hatton on the canvass on the second round.

Prior to that on the first round, Manny already gave Hatton unbearable punches that knocked down Hatton twice. A number of solid right hand hooks connected that made Hatton weak. If it was not for the bell of the first round Manny could have ended it before the second round.

Hatton was a strong fighter, but his defense against Manny is so weak that Manny had the chance to land punches on him. Maybe its because both fighters are the offensive type, however, Manny had the advantage because of his defense. Hatton was trying hard to hit Manny that he forgot to cover himself. If your a fighter against Manny Pacquiao, one should watch out for his left hand. And not only that, when you see 2 to 3 jabs from Manny's right hand, there is always a strong left hand coming.
Manny Pacquiao knockout Hatton
"That was my strategy, left hook and right hook, that was going to be the key to this fight," Pacquiao said in the ring afterward. "I expected my right hook to be dangerous for him."

Manny's win is surely a big slap against Mayweather Senior's face claiming he is the best. Congratulations to the Filipinos Pride for winning once again and again. More power to you Manny "The Pacman" Pacquiao!

8 Things Your Need to Put On Your Blog

8 Things you need to put on your blog

While I was blogging my way to a great blogger (hope the odds are not against me.) I have noticed some useful things that most bloggers put on their blog. Aside from the most important ones like the Post Title, the Title itself, or the Blog post / articles (this one I consider the most important of all.)

One similarity I usually see from all the great blogs out there is the Link Tab or Navigation bar. The navigation bar allows users or readers to go through your blog more easily. In this part of the blog, the blog owner can put links to the most important and most relevant things about his blog. There you can put links to a single post like an About Me tab or a link to a Category, a Disclaimer perhaps, etc.

The second important thing I notice and gives significance in making your subscribers grow is the Easy Subscription Notice or the One Click Subscription link similar to picture below. In this way, if the readers who come across your blog happen to like your post, he can easily click on the link and get updates from your blog. Having subscribed readers will give you better future traffic and most importantly will give a you a relationship between the readers.

Third is the Shoutbox or Chat Box, thru this your visitors can easily communicate with you, whether it be for exchanging links, a suggestion, or it could be just a simple note telling the blog owner that he happen to pass by. The benefit you could get with this is that it allows interaction with the people around your same endeavor. Fellow bloggers will then be able to leave links easily, which could give way to easy sharing of information.

Fourth is the Comment form. In this case, here in my blog, I made it more accessible to readers to just type-in their comment beneath each post to allow easy access. Comments are very important, since they measure how good your article is. You might not get comments easily in a day or two. But rest assure one will come by and might as well share something useful or just drop by and give you a greeting. Or perhaps he could leave a link to an additional information that might be useful to your readers which is also relevant to your post.

Fifth is the Sitemeter, all bloggers might be familiar about this. There are many ways to track website traffic. I got Sitemeter and Google Analytics to do the job for me. But it is Sitemeter that I use more often to have a look at incoming traffic with just a click or two. If I want more detailed reports then its Google Analytics that I turn to. Getting to know your traffic stats is very important. It will allow you to understand more about your blog. Which in turn, will allow you to discover your strengths and weaknesses in SEO. I don’t want to go down further with this topic because I know it would take one long post if I will go on, maybe on my coming posts.

Sixth, the Pagerank Icon. Almost every blog I’ve been reading always has its own Pagerank icon. For those who doesn’t know yet, a Pagerank icon shows the readers the Google’s view of the importance of the blog or website. 0/10 for the unranked and 10/10 for the highest. In my case its 3/10, which is fair enough for a newbie blogger like me. Its also a way to show-off to your readers and advertisers about the grade of your blog.

Seventh, the Community Icons. These icons in attractive colors are there to serve a number of useful things. One is, they are there because you need to put them, and otherwise you may get disqualified if you wont, for a service from their website or blogging community that you are using. And why do you think you need to join this blogging communities? You have there, MyBlogLog, Blogtoplist, Blogcatalog, Top Blogs, Million blog list, etc.

I really hate to put this images cause they will cause delays on loading time for your blog. But the benefits outweigh the negatives. These blogging communities are feed readers, they drive traffic to your site, and they will link to your blog and give votes on your page rankings, and most importantly get you connected to other bloggers and make your blog be discovered. Other than that they will make your blog look like a real blog and make it look more professional.

And lastly, so you thought I forgot, I consider this the “Meal of the Party”, the ADS, Adverts, Advertisements, etc. , they come in many different ways. Some are ad links, picture ads, a combination of both, etc. These are the most loved part of most bloggers, not all bloggers though, since there are also successful blogs without the advertisements that I know of. Pay per click advertisement is one of the most used ways of earning money online. They generate revenue, and help you pay your Internet bills, Hosting Fees, and the golden time you use to write articles. You have there, to name a few, Google Adsense, Adbrite, Bidvertiser, Kontera, Chitika, Amazon, Nuffnang, Digxa, etc.

So that’s about it, the eight useful things you need to put on your blog, I wanted to elaborate more on each of the items, but I think it would require a whole post. Maybe I will write a separate post for each item in the future.

I hope I have shared enough information that might add to your knowledge as a blogger. On this post, The Eight Useful Things You Need To Put On Your Blog, I only described what you need to put on your blog that can be preceived virtually. There are also many integral blog parts that I need to discuss, like the Meta Tags, the Description Tag, the Title, etc.

Facebook and the Filipinos

Facebook and the Filipinos

It’s really amazing how Filipinos love acquaintances, such desire leads Filipinos to join social groups. And that desire coupled with technology and the Internet leads Filipinos to join Social Medias. Social medias or Social Networking such as, to name a few, Friendster, MySpace, Flixter, Tagged, etc.

But one thing I have noticed is that more and more Filipino people are joining Facebook. Facebook is a free-access social-networking website that is operated and privately-owned by Facebook, Inc. Users of their service can join networks connecting them to families and friends. Thru Facebook you will be able to find old friends from your childhood or your higschool and college days. Not only that, you would also have a chance to discover new friends. Sharing information on a click of a mouse. Communication has never been this easier.

I am really amazed how easy it is to share things now-a-days, especially thru Facebook. Facebook Features include a Wall, it is a place on a users profile wherein you could easily put comments and post messages on a users profile page.

Also included are, of course, Photos that would enable users to upload photos to different user albums. One unique feature of the Photo section of Facebook is how a user be able to Tag another user on his friends list if he or she is on the photo, a notification will then be sent to that user. Making it more easier to share.

Another useful feature on Facebook is the Status message. This is the feature, which allows users to announce any thing, it could be something you’re doing presently, your mood for the day, and in my case I use it to advertise my blog post. ^_^ Sorry guys its not spamming, its social media and it’s the way I share information.

Users also have daily News Feeds on every homepage, this shows the recent activities of your friends, from changing their profile photo to where they send comments, etc.

Another favorite of mine is how easily you can add friends, just one click and they are yours. There is also an interactive panel on the bottom part of your browser that would enable you to see who is online on your friends list and have the option to chat with them.

Its free join now here http://www.facebook.com/

And believe it or not! Facebook has been used to serve legal documents and make people appear on court! Wohoo!!!

On the news http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7785004.stm. What can you say about that?

How I View Blogging Ethics

I just received this email from a fellow blogger doing her thesis about Blogging Ethics.
This is my honest answers to the following questions. Any reactions are accepted.

Name (optional): Francis Daniel Maning
Age: 26
Sex:M
Location:Cebu Philippines
Blog Title and Category: iStayl Sugbo: A collection of Random Thoughts. Sushi Chef from Mizu Japanese Restaurant. Subscribe and get updates on new trends, useful stuff, and more..

QUESTIONS:

A. On your personal ethical standards
1. What is your perception on ethics? Do you think you are applying it in your blogging activity? Why or why not?
Answer:
Ethics refers to a properly defined guideline being used by an individual, in this case a blogger, which he could use somehow to make himself determine things from right or wrong. Follow what is acceptable and be a model of truth.

Yes, by doing so you would earn “Trust” from your readers, in turn you would get more subscribers.

2. What ethical standards do you apply in your blog? Do you currently follow any or a personal Code of Ethics?
Answer:

Since my blog is not that complicated and have not reached its full potential yet, I am basing my ethical principles on my conscience, conformity with the law, fairness, and the passion of delivering quality information to readers.

3. If you were to draft your own Blogger’s Code of Ethics, what principles of ethics (example: honesty, accountability, truth, etc) will you include in it? Briefly elaborate on each and give examples on how you can show each principle.
Answer:
If I were to draft my own bloggers code of ethics, I would base it on the Rotarians 4 way test.. ^_^

1. Is it the Truth?
Honesty and Fairness. A blogger should be honest and be fair in delivering information. Provide information as much as possible by disclosing and elaborating the source (if any). A blogger should not post untruthful and biased articles that might mislead and harm users. Also be accountable for the things that you write and always be ready for change and accept suggestions from readers.

2. Is it fair to all Concerned?
Always keep in mind, that everything you write might affect readers. A blogger should think about his social responsibility.

3. Will it build goodwill and better friendship?
A blogger should always be kind in writing articles. It should not provoke hate and discrimination. Nor it would cause harm between 2 parties, products, and personalities. Etc..

4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
A blog should be constructive and not destructive to the community.

4. Among the many blogging problems and ethical issues that arise now, which do you believe should be addressed?
Answer:
There are many issues at hand that should be looked upon in the present time. But there is one deviation on ethical standards that a blogger should not practice. And that is how business individuals use blogs and bloggers to gain search engine rankings thru BUYING LINKS.

5. Personally, what do you think is the importance of having ethical standards in blogging?
Answer:

Having ethical standards in blogging would give you confidence and to minimize the problems that you may encounter in the future.
B. On the Bloggers’ Code of Ethics

1. Have you come across any Bloggers’ Code of Ethics online? If so, what version is it? Answer: NONE

2. If not online, how did you learn about it? What was your primary reaction?
Answer:
N/A

3. Do you agree with the provisions stated there, and the principles that were tackled?
Answer:
N/A

4. Do you apply the Bloggers’ Code of Ethics in your blogging? Why and how do you apply it (through your language, designs, etc)?
Answer:
N/A

5. Does the knowledge of the existing Bloggers’ Code of Ethics pressure you to follow it? Why?
Answer:
N/A

6. Do you think it is necessary to have a Bloggers’ Code of Ethics? Is it really implementable? Why or why not?
Answer:
Yes, the blogosphere needs to have a Bloggers’ Code of Ethics. Is not a question if its implementable or not. As of the moment, we should focus on creating a body that would implement it to start with.

7. Is it possible for the entire blogosphere to follow a single Bloggers’ Code of Ethics? Why or why not?
Answer:
It depends upon the individual. I doubt that the whole blogging community will follow it. However, it would be nice to know that somebody would be starting it.

8. How do you think will a Bloggers’ Code of Ethics change the way bloggers blog? Or will it not affect anything?
Answer:
If it affects a blogger in any way, for sure I see it as a long term investment. When you write quality blog, you get good results. If you follow the rules, everything will be fine.

9. What do you think is the relationship of Code of Ethics and freedom of expression?
Answer:
That’s a very sensitive issue. However, I see no difference between both if they both serve the same purpose. For truth and fairness.

16 Days of Blogging

16 Days of Blogging

"If you are a newbie in blogging and have just started to put up a blog and you need traffic. Its time to subscribe to my post and be updated. Follow me during my 16 days of blogging"
On February 23 up to March 10, 2009, I would be much active in blogging. My goal is to increase page visit, site traffic, number of feed subscribers, and Alexa ranking. During those 16 days, I would be creating useful content and utilize the top 500 searched keywords on the net.

Furthermore, if possible, I don’t know how hard it would be, I would try to do some research and eventually come up with a method on how to increase my Google Page Rank from Page Rank 3/10 to Page Rank 4/10. Just one number up, that is if Google would permit me. I have no idea if 16 days would be enough anyway; it’s worth a try.

Additionally, I would be posting some articles about what I would be doing during those 16 days. I would be mentioning some useful reference sites. Get to know some successful bloggers and learn their methods as well as techniques on how to increase traffic, increase Alexa page rank, increase Google ranking, and how to use search engines as a source of traffic. I would be getting advice from professionals; I would be watching video interviews from famous and credible webmasters.

I would be asking opinions and tips from fellow Cebuano bloggers on Search Engine Optimizations. Convince one or two personality from the Cebu Bloggers Society to write for iStayl Sugbo a short word of advice for newbie bloggers.

I would also include on my posts on how to start your own blog and provide step-by-step guidelines on the first things you need to do on your blog and make your way to the blogosphere. I would be posting an illustration comparing my previous traffic to the traffic I would be getting within those 16 days of blogging and would write about it and analyze the reports.

If you are a newbie in blogging and has just started to put up a blog. It is time to subscribe to my posts and be updated. Follow me during my 16 days of blogging, starting February 23 up to March 10, 2009. The Philippines - My country, my home

The Philippines - My country, my home

“My home, my country, my native land, my Philippines.”

The Philippines is the place of my birth and may it also be the place where I shall cease my life. The Philippines is rich in treasures, God given natural beauty abound the archipelago. There are many beautiful destinations that one could venture, both local and tourists alike. The Philippines is rich in wonders, to name a few such as the Tubataha Reef, The Rice Terraces, The Chocolate Hills of Bohol, the perfectly cone shaped Mayon Volcano, etc.

The Philippines is also rich in culture. Influenced by different parts of the globe, the Philippine culture has become a melting pot of different heritages and ancestry. Majority of which are the Indo, Malays, and Chinese races. Yet, no matter where they may belong, a natural born Filipino will always be a Filipino. Born in the land of the Pearl of the Orient and the Cradle of the Brave.

By blood or by heart, Filipinos are close family oriented. Filipinos are hospitable and have high respect for elders. Filipinos are also very grateful people. They are hardworking and they enjoy life and are high in spirits. Intelligent and open minded. Filipinos are God fearing.

Every Filipino that have left for a job abroad or have migrated abroad, surely would come back home and visit their native land. Every pinoy have their own lasting bond from whence they were born. They treasure memories they have left behind in their homeland. This is evident in the way that almost all Filipinos who left their country would always contact and ask “Kumusta na dha sa Pinas? (hows everything there in the Philippines?). And would surely come back and visit.

All these and more, makes me proud I am a Filipino. The sparkle of your flag is victory that shines. Its stars and sun shall forever never dim.

More power to Filipinos Unite

Artificial Traffic vs Content Driven Traffic

Artificial Traffic vs Content Driven Traffic

In this post, I would like to share with you a little idea of mine that might work in increasing your blog traffic. I am not an expert in SEO, but there is one technique that I guess might work for you if you are still starting your blog.

That is to write, write, write, and write. Create volume content. Write new post as long as you can. Give your blog a post each day. By creating newer content will give you a higher chance that your blog be ranked on search engines. In turn you will be gaining natural traffic from search engines, which is a good idea.

Avoid using techniques that would give your blog artificial traffic, like auto surfing, card dropping, etc. Although I am not really against that, since some web masters still claim that it would also help you increase your Alexa traffic ranking, although artificially.

I have done that too and indeed it surely gave my blog an Alexa Traffic rank of 750,000. But when I decided to stop because I was tired of it, my Alexa rank dropped to 2,000,000.

Having a 2million Alexa traffic rank is not a good sight, but it is the truth. Too far from the artificial 750,000. So if I were you, don’t give your blog a LIE Traffic. Now I’m on my way to doing my best to increase my Alexa page ranking naturally thru my posts.

Below is a Graph showing the unique site visit of http://istaylsugbo.blogspot.com. As you can see in the illustration, on the month of April, I started to learn acquiring traffic from auto surf, card dropping, blog hopping, etc. Traffic gained was amazing, it went to over 2,000 unique page visits for the month of April, however, I stopped doing it because all I see from the referrals was more from these artificial traffic generating sites. Which, doesn’t sound fulfilling on my part.

(note: as of February 12, 2009)

By the month of September, blog traffic went back to its normal/natural 100 unique visits each month. Doesn’t sound good, disappointed, and discouraging. However, I realized when I looked at the referrals on the report, it showed that most traffic sources are from search engines, which gave me an idea that if only I could create content that might interest search engine users, then I could increase my traffic.

Since then, starting the month of October, I began creating useful posts, not to mention attractive post that plays well on search engines. As you can see on the graph, site visits are going up. Not a good number yet, but it is assured that readers do come to my blog and there is an improvement since the day I started my blog.

If you have any good ideas that might be useful, please share it to me by commenting on this post. If you find this post useful please do subscribe to my blog by visiting this link here.
