Sometimes we feel like our life has gone out of control and that things are happening not the way you want them to be. Your dreams are left just as dreams and that realizing it becomes even more difficult. And there are even times, sad to say, that we blame it to God.

I want to share with you this little story I came across way back years ago. I happen to have read this story when I was still a working student at DSWD (Department of Social Welfare Development). When I was arranging the files and cleaning up the drawer, I saw this piece of hard paper, and on it was written a tale that would truly change the way you look at your life now.

"The Tale of Three Trees"

Once upon a mountain top, three little trees stood and dreamed of what they wanted to become when they grew up. The first little tree looked up at the stars and said: "I want to hold treasure. I want to be covered with gold and filled with precious stones. I'll be the most beautiful treasure chest in the world!" The second little tree looked out at the small stream trickling by on its way to the ocean. "I want to be traveling mighty waters and carrying powerful kings. I'll be the strongest ship in the world!" The third little tree looked down into the valley below where busy men and women worked in a busy town. "I don't want to leave the mountain top at all. I want to grow so tall that when people stop to look at me, they'll raise their eyes to heaven and think of God. I will be the tallest tree in the world."

Years passed and the little trees grew tall. One day three woodcutters climbed the mountain. The first woodcutter looked at the first tree and said, "This tree is beautiful. It is perfect for me." With a swoop of his shining ax, the first tree fell. "Now I shall be made into a beautiful chest, I shall hold wonderful treasure!" the first tree said. The second woodcutter looked at the second tree and said, "This tree is strong. It is perfect for me." With a swoop of his shining ax, the second tree fell. "Now I shall sail mighty waters!" thought the second tree. "I shall be a strong ship for mighty kings!" The third tree felt her heart sink when the last woodcutter looked her way. She stood straight and tall and pointed bravely to heaven. But the woodcutter never even looked up. "Any kind of tree will do for me." He muttered. With a swoop of his shining ax the third tree fell.

The first tree rejoiced when the woodcutter brought her to a carpenter's shop. But the carpenter fashioned the tree into a feed box for animals. The once beautiful tree was not covered with gold or with treasures. She was coated with sawdust and filled with hay for hungry farm animals. The second tree smiled when the woodcutter took her to a shipyard, but no mighty ship was made that day. Instead, the once strong tree was hammered and sawed into a simple fishing boat. She was too small and too weak to sail to an ocean, or even a river. Instead she was taken to a little lake. The third tree was confused when the woodcutter cut her into strong beams and left her in a lumberyard. "What happened?" The once tall tree wondered. "All I ever wanted was to stay on the mountain top and point to God..."

Many, many days and nights passed. The three trees nearly forgot their dreams. But one night, golden starlight poured over the first tree as a young woman placed her newborn baby in the feed box. "I wish I could make a cradle for him," her husband whispered. The mother squeezed his hand and smiled as the starlight shone on the smooth and the sturdy wood. "This manger is beautiful," she said. And suddenly the first tree knew he was holding the greatest treasure in the world.

One evening a tired traveler and his friends crowded into the old fishing boat. The traveler fell asleep as the second tree quietly sailed out into the lake. Soon a thundering and thrashing storm arose. The little tree shuddered. She knew she did not have the strength to carry so many passengers safely through the wind and the rain. The tired man awakened. He stood up, stretched out his hand and said, "Peace." The storm stopped as quickly as it had begun. And suddenly the second tree knew he was carrying the King of heaven and earth.

One Friday morning, the third tree was startled when her beams were yanked from the forgotten woodpile. She flinched as she was carried through an angry jeering crowd. She shuddered when soldiers nailed a man's hands to her. She felt ugly and harsh and cruel. But on Sunday morning, when the sun rose and the earth trembled with joy beneath her, the third tree knew that God's love had changed everything. It had made the third tree strong. And every time people thought of the third tree, they would think of God.

That was better than being the tallest tree in the world.

What can you say about this story? When I finished reading it, it changed my view about life. And at that moment I knew that God has a separate plan for me. Each of us has our own blue print in life. We all have different dreams and ambitions in life, these dreams and ambitions are grounded by our present needs. We always want to be in control of our life, we want to control our future. However hard we try to do things the way we want our future to be. There are these never-ending obstacles that we continually face.

Life is never a smooth sailing, never dream of a smooth life, cause in the end, if you have overcome those challenges, you will sit proud and shall tell yourself that you have lived a life the way a man should. And that all dreams that you wanted will be realized in time, maybe not the exact thing, but for sure God has given it you because you deserve it.

I am writing this post for every mother out there. As a father, I can feel what it feels like to be a mother, all the sacrifices they undergo.

Woman, a female human, plays a vital rule in this world. From girlhood to womanhood, a woman experiences plenty of transformation in her life. A change most noticeable in a woman is her Menarche or a woman’s first menstrual period. A mark of fertility and is considered as a central event of a girls puberty.

One of the most significant changes that she would encounter is by the time she will carry in her womb a seed for the generation of herself. Having a child in your belly for 9 months is a difficult and I think the hardest thing that a woman does in her lifetime.

From a baby’s conception to its delivery a woman is now called a mother. Becoming a mother makes it even more difficult. Raising a child is a mother’s lifetime job.

And being her son, I would like to thank my mother for taking care of me the best that she could and even sacrificing her own happiness not only for me as her son and also for her granddaughters and grandsons as well. We love you ma. May God give you the strength that you always need.

I would also like to greet the mother of my child a Happy Mother’s Day, wherever she may be, I wish her the strength and wisdom she deserves. I know she’s thinking of our daughter right now. I know she loves her so much. Even thought she’s not here she will always be a part of our family. We love you.

The Power of Letting Go

Letting go of someone for everyone seems to be the hardest thing to do, especially if that person already made a mark in your life. Somebody special to you and was there all thru the years, months, or days in your life. We always remember the things that had happened, the experiences you’ve been thru, it could be that saddest or the happiest moments. You can always recall that there was this moment in your life that nothing else matters in this world and that within this world the only significant thing that exists is between you and the person you love. To lose someone special gives pain that you wont know when its end. And every time you hear a hymn of a love song, makes you remember and even cry.

But despite all these, all the uncertainties it would bring, some people find the courage of letting go. Though some people would just let go without any valid reason, and just because they found somebody new, there are these few people who decided to end things because what matters to them is the benefit it would bring if they decide to set themselves free. You would know these when you ask these people about their past love and look at their eyes, you will somehow feel the emptiness they are going thru. Well, there are these things in life that, no matter how hard a person tries, things do change, and sometimes they change the way you don’t want them to be.

Anyways, life must go on for everyone. We must keep in mind that letting go of somebody opens up a new horizon to explore, a new day to uncover, and a new way to savor the flavor of life. A new beginning to start, better remember the days that have happened to let you smile out of it, rather than making you cry. Look at the past as a guide, a learning tool that will help you recover from the sad things that you have been thru and make you avoid it in the future.

The power of letting go is just as good as the power of loving for the first time. So just move on and I tell you, you will have, if not better things than before, at least it would be much different and make you enjoy life more to the fullest.

When Love Waits

To get you away from me is the thing I regret for in my life. I took your love for granted, and all I'm dreaming now is to have a second chance. A second chance for love. A second chance to love you again. To make you feel that you are loved. And even though I don't show it all the time, I am the person that is constantly loving you. You will always have my heart.

Everyday and every night, I long for your presence near. Waking up everyday, hoping in seeing your smile. Day by day, in my every wake, and when I look and you are not there, I just close my eyes and fold my neck, and imagine that you’re right there beside me. Making me feel I am attached to you. I may look as though I am a strong man, but the thing that's true is I am getting weaker everyday as I waited for your return.

I just want to be with you, I don't know if all my life I will wait. Waiting and waiting, trying to forget the unforgettable you. Like a melody that plays in my head, no matter how hard I try not to sing it, I kept on humming its tune. I don't know if to wait for you is the best thing to do, I really have no idea. When I am faced with difficult questions, I don't give up until I find its answers. But this question of uncertainty, of doubt, I can’t find the answers to it. And even though I know it is futile to wait, I just kept on waiting and waiting.

Is this Love that keeps me holding on to a love lost? If so, when will this love burn in time and fade away? Until I have no more strength left in me? Or until my heart beats no more?

Believe it or not, Thomas Beatie, 34 year old and happily married man, is six months pregnant, doing the job of pregnancy for his wife, Nancy, who can’t have a child as of the moment.

Although Thomas Beatie was born a girl, he has undergone Double Mastectomy and has taken male hormones that made him look like a real man. During the process, he decided to keep his female genitals with him. A lucky decision in fact, now that the couple wanted to have a child, he could use his as a spare.

His pregnancy, according to his OB-GYNE, is normal. Mr. Thomas is expecting a baby girl.

Playboy in the Philippines - A change in the Philippines' image

Playboy, an American adult magazine company, has just launched its Philippine copies. This would be a mark of another change in the image of the Philippines as a nation. Although indirectly, but I’m sure it will receive many criticisms and may even trigger protests. Not to mention the would-be reaction from the Catholic Church and the women societies.

Things do change in time. Launchings like these would have not been permitted if this had happened 10 years before our time.

The Philippine issues, however, wont show full frontal nudity as promised by its editors, “We’re adjusting it to local conditions” says Editor-In-Chief Beting Laygo Dolor. As Playboy had already ran into difficulties way back April 2006 on Indonesia, when their operations were temporarily suspended because of Muslim Protest against their magazines.

Tubbataha Reef:

Tubbataha Reef is an atoll coral

reef in the Sulu Sea that belongs to the Philippines. It is a marine sanctuary protected as Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park. The reef is composed of two atolls, North and South Reefs. Each reef has a single small islet that protrudes from the water. The atolls are separated by a deep channel 8 kilometers wide. Over one thousand species, including many that are endangered, can be found at on the reef. These include manta rays, lionfish, tortoises, clownfish and sharks.

Chocolate Hills:

The Chocolate Hills is an unusual geological formation in Bohol, Philippines. It is composed of around 1,268 perfectly cone-shaped hills, all about the same size, spread over an area of more than 50 sq km The hills are covered in green grass that turns brown during the dry season, giving them the name "Chocolate Hills."

I have just watched a news on our local TV network ABS CBN Tv Patrol about an Australian guy. He wrote on his blog, about him being victimized by a Filipino socialite. In his blog he wrote on how he desperately wants his money back after selling his estate on Australia just to send it to his boyfriend. The $70,000 money was intended to open a restaurant and a travel agency in the Philippines. Only to know in the end that he was victimized by his boyfriend and is nowhere to be found, running away with his money. He also named a number of personalities that are connected with his ex-boyfriend, also addressing the issue to a local newspaper, wherein his boyfriend used to work, even sending letters to its president.

Included in his blog was how his boyfried satisfied his cocaine dependency using his money and getting large amounts of credits from other people, who his boyfriend was unable to pay. The turn of events on how he lost his money. How he handled the situation and how he handled himself in the situation.

I don’t want to comment much about this issue cause, I myself don’t know each side’s story. All I can say is it is a lesson that we should put in our minds. Everyone should think that the Internet is not a safe place, especially if money is involved.

Furthermore, because of blogging and using blogs as our tool, we can raise the awareness for these kinds of exploitations. It is amazing how powerful a blog could be used as a tool and influence people, in a good way.

Gabby Concepcion – The Comeback

After decades away from the country and away from showbiz, the actor signed a two-year contract for ABS – CBN. This contract gives him projects both the television programs and film movies. Being away from the country did not excuse him from the intrigues happening here in the Philippines and has been a subject for discussions and humors. One of which was his controversial snub for the text messages of Ms. Jolina Magdangal when their supposed movie was canceled.

There have been hearsays about a movie that he would be making, teaming up with his daughter though. Surely it would attract many fans from father and daughter alike.

Concepcion’s new manager, Rose Flaminiano known as Mommy Rose in the showbiz industry, said that a new soap opera is already readied for him on ABS – CBN.

Will Gabby Concepcion have the same appeal that he had way back the 90’s? We don’t know yet, but considering Gabby’s credible acting skills, the undead charisma that he has for the fans, and his commitment to the showbiz industry is surely a plus factor for a new start in his career.

Half Cup Less - Philippine Rice Shortage

As of the moment, in disbelief I wondered how did this happen? I’m hearing about a rice shortage? My goodness. The Philippines is a rice eating country. Although we don’t export rice, the Philippines is considered one of the biggest rice producers in the world. And it is so ironic that the people now are advised to eat half of the rice they used to eat, which is, a bad thing. Considering Philippines supposedly has an agricultural economic set-up. Our lands are fertile and we have farmers. Maybe it is the price we pay for neglecting our agricultural necessities. The government is too complacent about putting enough focus on agrarian reforms, additional research and machineries, farmer support, etc. Now we have come to a point wherein everyone is affected. And the people who suffer the most are the poor who rely on rice. That includes my family, friends and me.

PROMDI - Probinsya Muna Development Initiative

If PROMDI or Probinsya Muna Development Initiative by Lito Osmeña have been pushed thru and implemented we might have avoided this scenario. If there was only a person who embodied this ideal about concentrating on the development on the outskirts or in the provinces by creating projects that would develop and utilize resources effectively and in a cost efficient way. Things like better road access, financial supports, additional training, community programs, or the Philippines could ask large business institutions to adapt-a-rice-field of some sort and giving them tax excemption benefits. Sounds crazy but any nice idea would do.

Eating Noodles

Eating instant noodles instead of rice, that is what the higher officials in the government are advising. This is a funny thing. Maybe they don’t know that we, the poor people, pair rice with noodles! Especially in the morning. Not just because it is easy to prepare but also because it is affordable. Everytime we need a soup to sip we always buy noodles. It also gives a feeling of being full in the stomach eventhough what was eaten was not nutritionally adviceable.

All I can say is, the government should take the necessary initiative. Study the agircultural system of the top rice exporting countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, and even the U. S. A.

When Love Turns Around

Hi there people, it has been a long time since I made a post. I don’t know if it was because of my busy schedules or is it because I have lost my passion to write. Well, here I am again. I missed the thinking and the writing in front of my PC.

I came back here in my blog because I want to share with you a very special thing that happened to me. I met this lady, I won’t mention her name because she might not like it and also it is without her knowledge that I am writing this. Let me just call her Sipat.

I call her Sipat, because she’s a fun loving lady, or shall I say a fun loving girl. It was months long ago that I happen to have met her, but it was only on a one rainy evening that I happen to get to know her better. And I believe it happened for a purpose, and not just a coincidence.

I was on my way out from work, hour overtime from the usual time I go out. My friend and me stayed for a while on the employees waiting area hoping that the rain would cease before we could take off with our bike. But the rain did not stop and it poured slowly and slowly as if it won’t even going to stop, so we decided to just wet ourselves and go home.

I then rode my bike and he rode his, and as we turned left, the usual route we take, a guard stopped us and told us to turn around and make a right turn. My body was soaked in rain that night, and I was so eager to go home. As we were nearing the exit, a shout called out for my name and I saw that it was my friends enjoying some beer also waiting for the rain to stop. They requested me to join them and so did I.

Minutes afterward, three ladies joined in, and it was my friend’s wife and her co-workers. Among the three, there I laid my eyes on Sipat. My first impression on her was nothing especial at all. But as we converse, and as I get to know her bit by bit, little by little, a little spark within me is slowly growing. And it is the comfort of talking with her that makes me think, this beautiful lady is different. We then became good friends. She is a very friendly person and she usually brings out the life of the crowd. She laughs a lot, moves a lot, and talks a lot. Sipat that is. Day by day, I never stopped thinking about her. And she never left my heart too. Maybe this is love, for if this is not love, then I don’t know what else to call it. Every time I am with her I experience ethereal joy.

Until one early morning, as I was about to send her home after a party, I never hesitated to tell her what I feel. The response I got was “You would only be hurt.” Then I asked why, she said “Know me first.” After that I didn’t bother asking her again, because when I did, I only get the same answers. It is only now that I know that her heart already belongs to somebody else, and that she is committed towards that other person.

And it is sad, knowing that the feeling is right, and all circumstances were in harmony, as if all the stars are aligned, and expecting that there will be her and me. You thought destiny was on your side, and that everything was a perfect plan that would bring you together. And later on being broken hearted by the fact that she’s not free.

All the things that happened, happened with a purpose. The overtime from work, the rain, the guard, the detour, the stopover, and the met up, all these to teach me that love does turn around. And things do happen the way you don’t want them to be.
